Pennies for Patients

The NJHS is beginning their annual Pennies for Patients campaign today.  This fundraiser will run through Feb. 28 and raises money for cancer patients through the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Everyone classroom has received their collection boxes.

The class that raises the most money will receive a pizza party.

Weekly Chapels - Open to parents

We invite and welcome parents to join us for our chapel, held weekly for students and faculties.  A variety of speakers from area churches and organizations are enlisted as weekly speakers.

Chapel is on Wednesdays in the Davis Gymnasium .  For safety, we simply ask that you check in at the office as a visitor.

Middle and High School Chapel is held at 8:15 a.m. and usually lasts until around 9:00 a.m.

Lower School Chapel is held at 9:15 a.m. and usually lasts about 30 minutes.

SAVE THE DATE:   AUCTION

“A Night on the Town”

It’s that time of year again!  The Laurence Manning Academy silent/live auction, “A Night on the Town” will take place on Saturday, March 21st.  Dinner will begin at 5:00pm, with the silent and live auction to immediately follow.  This is always a fun evening with lots of excitement and deals! It is certainly an event not to be missed.

As always, in order for this year’s event to be a success, your help is needed.  We are currently asking for help with item solicitation.  This can be done several ways.

If you or someone you know owns a business, any type of item or service donation is greatly appreciated.  Your donation can be sent to school with your child, or we can make arrangements to pick up.

Also, you may help solicit items by calling and/or visiting local businesses in the Sumter and Manning areas, asking for donations.  Most every business is more than willing to donate….all you have to do is ask!

If you are interested in helping solicit, or if you have an item to donate, please contact me as soon as possible.  All solicitors will need a business solicitation packet.  All item donations are needed by March 10th.  Ticket sales will begin in early March.

Thank you in advance for your time and generosity!  It is only due to parents such as yourself that this event has become LMA’s largest fundraiser of the year.

Please contact me at 803-566-1249 (Dixie) with any questions or offers to help.

Sincerely,

Dixie Elliott

LMA Students win “Cities Mean Business” writing contest

Congratulations to Gavin Ard, Ansley Welch, and Drew Newman, winning writers for the "Cities Mean Business" writing contest.  This was sponsored by Main Street Manning in hopes that students will think about how businesses and city government can work together to make a strong community.  The format for this was a poem, essay, or a short story.  They have been invited to read their writing at the Manning City Council meeting this Monday, February 23.
