LMA Coed Bowling Team Claims 11th State Championship Title

Laurence Manning Academy’s coed bowling team, under the leadership of Coach Jay Atkins, has secured their 11th state championship title. The team clinched the 2024 South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) State Championship on February 5, 2024, at Royal Z Lanes in Columbia.

The Swampcats delivered an impressive performance across three games, achieving scores of 194, 202, and 170, totaling 566 points. This remarkable effort placed them 120 points ahead of the second-place team, Porter-Gaud, which finished with 446 points.

The championship team comprises six dedicated members: Sydnie Vohs, Charlotte Baker, Colby Hasty, Caleb Baker, Jason Skinner, and Nathan Stewart. Coach Atkins attributes their success to the team’s serious approach to the sport and their collective talent and experience. He was assisted by Brad and Amy Vohs in coaching these student-athletes.

Reflecting on the program’s sustained excellence, Coach Atkins noted, “It hasn’t been a case of us being lucky. We’ve had a lot of skill on those teams.” This latest victory marks the school’s tenth state championship under his guidance, with three titles won by the coed team and seven by the boys’ team.

Laurence Manning Academy celebrates the hard work and dedication of the coed bowling team and looks forward to their continued success in future competitions.
