Volleyball Head Coaches Named

We are excited to announce two new head coaches to the volleyball program.

A familiar face to the program, serving as the Bteam Coach the past two years, Alexus Carter has been named as the Head Coach of the Varsity Program.  Originally from the Shiloh area of SC, she graduated from East Clarendon in 2012.  She started her college career at Charleston Southern University where she played volleyball for one semester before transferring to Clemson University to pursue a new career path. While attending Clemson, she played club volleyball for three years while earning a Bachelor Degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Biology.  During college she helped coach JV volleyball and after graduation, she coached at the Sumter Jr’s Club Volleyball for two years. She also served as the assistant coach for JV and Varsity volleyball at EC for four years.  Coaching and mentoring have always been her passion.  She is married to a wonderful, supportive husband and they have two small children.  She is excited for this opportunity and to see how this program can grow over the coming years.

Elize Hensley has been named the Head Coach of JV Volleyball.  With six years of experience coaching ages 14-18 she is excited to bring her knowledge and passion to the LMA program. Originally from Charleston, SC, she found her love of volleyball at West Ashley High School where she played for four years.  In addition to school volleyball, she played two years of club volleyball, as well as sand volleyball, and pickup grass tournaments with friends.  After graduation, she attended Winthrop University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training.  In college she played intramural and club volleyball. After graduating college, she returned to coach for her high school club program.  During her four years at the Charleston Volleyball Club, she discovered a new passion for the game as a coach.  She strives to create a positive, encouraging, and competitive environment where players can reach their full potential, while learning the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect.  Elize is married to her amazing and supportive husband Andrew, and they have two children, Collins (2 years) and Thomas (3 months) and three fur babies.  They moved to Manning in 2018 after graduating college to enjoy the lake life with family and friends.

As we welcome these coaches, we want to thank Amy Marshall for her tremendous work over the last few years building the volleyball program.  We are excited to see these coaches continue to build and grow our programs.
